Surfing Australia
Australia is where modern surf culture was born, and the waves live up to the legend. With over 25,000 kilometers of coastline exposed to multiple swell windows, Australia offers an extraordinary variety of waves — from the machine-like points of the Gold Coast to the powerful reefs of Western Australia.
The east coast catches Coral Sea and Tasman swells, producing consistent surf from Queensland down through New South Wales. The south coast from Victoria through South Australia picks up massive Southern Ocean swells. And Western Australia's Margaret River region delivers some of the heaviest waves in the country.
Water temperatures range from warm subtropical in Queensland to cool temperate in Victoria and Tasmania. The surf infrastructure is world-class — excellent roads, reliable forecasting, quality board shops, and a culture that revolves around the ocean.
