Surfing Philippines

5 surf spots|28°C water|4 Reef, 1 Beach

The Philippines is Southeast Asia's surf frontier. While Indonesia dominates the region's surf tourism, the Philippines offers an equally vast archipelago with quality reef breaks, warm water, and significantly fewer surfers. Siargao Island — home to the famous Cloud 9 — has become the country's surf capital, but the coastline holds dozens of undiscovered spots.

The eastern seaboard catches Pacific Ocean typhoon and trade wind swells from August through March. Cloud 9 is a hollow, shallow reef break that has hosted international competitions and earned global recognition. Surrounding breaks on Siargao — Tuason Point, Rock Island, Cemetery — offer variety for different conditions and skill levels.

Beyond Siargao, the eastern coasts of Catanduanes, Aurora Province, and Eastern Samar catch similar swells with virtually no surf tourism infrastructure — pure adventure for the self-sufficient surfer.
