France's Atlantic coast delivers some of the most powerful surf in Europe. The Landes coast around Hossegor and Seignosse is the epicenter — heavy, hollow beach break barrels that host WSL Championship Tour events and produce some of the best tubes in the Atlantic.

South of there, the Basque Country coast around Biarritz and Guéthary offers reef breaks and points with a distinctly French character. North in Brittany, the coast turns rugged and wild with powerful waves and dramatically fewer surfers.

French surf culture is deeply embedded — the country has produced world-class surfers for decades, and the infrastructure around Hossegor is among the best in Europe. Add in the food, the wine, and the lifestyle, and France offers a surf trip that feeds every appetite.
